Alanna is passionate about helping clients implement sustainable, convenient, and efficient transportation solutions that improve quality of life. She is excited about new opportunities to tackle current and future challenges in the rapidly-changing transportation industry.
Alanna McKeeman, AICP is a transportation planner whose work centers around providing more convenient and efficient public transportation options for all through effective planning processes that combine both data and qualitative input.
At Foursquare ITP, Alanna has led projects covering a variety of service areas including strategic and financial planning, statewide and regional planning, microtransit planning and new mobility, performance monitoring, and public and stakeholder engagement. Alanna is currently serving as the lead for public and stakeholder engagement for WMATA’s Better Bus Network Redesign, a multi-year, high-profile project that depends on strategic and effective engagement to create the bus network the DC region deserves. In addition, she had leading roles in public and stakeholder engagement for WMATA’s Bus Transformation Project, multiple and ongoing phases of the MD 355 Bus Rapid Transit Project, and moveDC, the District of Columbia’s statewide long-range transportation plan.
Alanna was the project manager for Bloomington Transit’s 10-Year Strategic Plan, the Virginia Transit Crisis Response and Recovery Handbook. She has led microtransit plans and studies in DC and Richmond, and developed both a financial and microtransit plan in Michigan.
From 2019-2023, Alanna served as project manager for the Atlanta Region Transit-Link Authority (ATL)’s ATL Annual Report and Audit, which provides a comprehensive picture of transit performance in the Atlanta region. She has also led development of financial plans and fare studies, including an evaluation of the ridership and cost impacts of different fare change scenarios to make DASH bus service more affordable for low-income residents in Alexandria, Virginia.
Alanna has been published in Mass Transit Magazine and, prior to joining Foursquare ITP, served as a lead author on several national publications regarding performance-based transportation planning. Alanna is also a WTS-DC Board Member and chairs its Scholarship and Fundraising Committee.
