Foursquare ITP has partnered with Podaris, a web-based transit planning software, to enhance our service planning processes, improve our efficiency, and provide our clients with actionable results.
Specifically, Podaris has improved our ability to:
- Create and/or update routes, stops, trips, patterns, and travel times.
- Create and/or update trips based on exact start times or headway.
- Update travel times from stop to stop, including assigning multiple travel times to a single pattern.
- Map a zone-based service like microtransit.
- Collaborate with clients in a shared work environment and share proposed networks with the public.
- Produce GTFS feeds that we can use to evaluate comparison metrics between current and proposed networks.
We have used Podaris on several different transit improvement plans and bus network redesigns, including the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS), Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA), and Centro in Syracuse, NY. Podaris also provides direct inputs to our Transit Resource Calculator (such as route mileage) to help verify revenue miles and operating costs. Overall, Podaris has enabled us to deliver valuable insights to our clients regarding proposed network changes, while also enhancing the efficiency of service scheduling.
