Ulster County Transportation Council (UCTC) partnered with Ulster County Area Transit (UCAT) to conduct a comprehensive overview and reassessment of their services to ensure alignment with the current and future mobility needs of Ulster County. Ulster County is served by a transit system made up of a patchwork of other systems that have not been comprehensively reviewed in over a decade. The agency needed to assess how existing fixed-route transit, and potentially microtransit, could improve the modal split in the county.

Foursquare ITP conducted a detailed market analysis, service analysis, and public outreach campaign to understand the travel needs of Ulster County. Our team also developed service scenarios to integrate the best use cases of fixed-route and microtransit services that were compatible with their system. Our analysis is currently aiding Ulster County’s long-term goal of total fleet electrification.
