Foursquare ITP assisted in developing an assessment of park and ride (P&R) lots in Northern Virginia, including an inventory of existing P&R lots and their amenities and multi-modal connections, a needs assessment, and recommendations for the future of P&R lots in Northern Virginia. Foursquare ITP produced an interactive P&R map for commuters to use as a one-stop-shop resource on where to find P&R lots, what transit and other multi-modal connections are available at each, and any additional amenities. We also produced a needs assessment, evaluating the conditions and features of lots, such as parking capacity, amenities, and multi-modal access improvements needed, based on our own fieldwork and other resources. Finally, we shared the project’s key findings in a public-friendly interactive online Story Map. This project was conducted for the Virginia Department of Transit (VDOT) through the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments’ technical assistance program.
Solutions and Outcomes
- Provided an interactive map of park and ride lots showing what transit and multi-modal connections are available at each one.
