Foursquare ITP developed a Data Practices Guidebook for small urban, rural, and tribal transit agencies with the National Center for Applied Transit Technology (N-CATT). The Guidebook contains two main sections: Best Data Practices and How to Use These Practices. The Best Data Practices section includes practices related to data sources, open data, and data standards, while the How to Use section includes summaries and case studies of how specific agencies have used these data practices in planning and performance monitoring, access and equity, and building partnerships. To develop both sections, we called on our extensive experience collecting and analyzing data for small agencies, conducting interviews with select agencies, and conducting research.
Solutions and Outcomes
- Provided agencies with knowledge of what technologies exist and what data practices they can adopt to better collect, analyze, and apply data to achieve various outcomes.
