The Green Line ADA Alternatives Analysis focused on improving ADA accessibility along the surface portion of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority’s (MBTA) Green Line. Foursquare ITP was responsible for evaluating the feasibility of consolidating stations at three locations across the system. As part of the study, Foursquare ITP conducted a walk-distance analysis that quantified the change in walk times across each of the three study areas. The team documented existing conditions and highlighted impacts on residents, employees, community resources, local businesses, and economic justice populations. The final study summarizes all potential impacts related to consolidation along with the quantified net benefits of station consolidation from an accessibility and travel-time standpoint.

Solutions and Outcomes
  • Identified the change in walk time for all properties within a half mile of the effected stations.
  • Highlighted which constituents would be most impacted by stop consolidation to help guide future public engagement.
