Congratulations once again to goDCgo! Foursquare Integrated Transportation Planning, Inc. (Foursquare ITP) manages goDCgo, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT)’s Transportation Demand Management (TDM) program. In December 2022, goDCgo received two awards from the Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT)’s Chesapeake Chapter.
The Best Incentive Program for Behavior Change award recognizes a company, college or university, organization, or individual who has developed and implemented a results-oriented incentive program, subsidy program, or policy that inspired behavior change. goDCgo won the award for its Get Paid to Pedal Bike Incentive, which was created to incentivize bike ownership. The program reimburses District public, private, or charter school teachers and staff $200 toward the purchase of a bicycle. Over 50% of applicants reported that cost was a barrier to purchasing a bike before the program and of those who received the reimbursement, 88% increased their bike usage in the first six weeks and 71% reported increased bike usage six months out.
goDCgo also won the Best Community Event award, which recognizes a TDM agency or organization for planning and implementing a successful community event that inspired behavior change. As part of its summer bike campaign, goDCgo hosted four bike popups at public parks, one in each quadrant of the city. goDCgo provided a bike mechanic on-site who performed free bike tune-ups for anyone who brought their bike to the event. Over 200 people attended the events, 50 received a free Capital Bikeshare annual membership, and 10 received a free Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA) Confident City Cycling class voucher.
Foursquare ITP has been managing DDOT’s TDM program since 2017. Samantha Huff is the CRM Marketing Manager for goDCgo who planned and marketed the award-winning incentive program and popup events. Danelle Carey is goDCgo’s Program Director.
