Outside of work, Spencer can often be found hiking and he enjoys utilizing the transit network of the DC area in innovative ways to reach trailheads. He believes in the power of multimodal planning to support connectivity to the outdoors for the non-driving population.

Spencer Ainsworth (he/him) is a transportation planner passionate about improving transit service to create vibrant communities and reduce reliance on personal vehicles. His experience prior to joining Foursquare ITP began in environmental conservation, using LiDAR data to map geomorphology and coastlines, before an interest in transit and micromobility led him to transportation planning. Spencer’s work in the field has spanned diverse focus areas, including rural transit service planning, intercity bus network design, and bus stop accessibility. He believes that hands-on experience is integral to designing equitable and efficient transit networks, whether through engagement with those using the system or prioritizing transit use in everyday life.
