Lora Byala, AICP is the founder, President, and CEO of Foursquare ITP and is a nationally recognized expert in transit planning. Her primary focus is on public transit and multimodal planning and she has led and conducted a wide range of studies including transit development plans, regional transportation plans, transit feasibility and market assessment, and bus priority planning. Lora’s projects range in scale and scope from overseeing Foursquare ITP’s extensive role in the BaltimoreLink bus network redesign; to developing Capital Improvement Plans, Transit Vision Plans, and Strategic Plans for Hampton Roads Transit; to providing guidance and strategic direction on Transportation Demand Management and Bike Share projects in Arlington County, VA and many other jurisdictions.
Lora appreciates the value of input from a variety of stakeholders and works to develop inclusive plans through stakeholder and inter-agency coordination, community input and a team-based approach to all of her work. She enjoys facilitating groups of professionals and stakeholders to collaboratively develop results that can be acted upon; Lora is most proud of the work she does that truly has a positive impact on the community.
Lora is a member of the Transportation Research Board Committee on Bus Transit Systems. She was honored in the Top 40 Under 40 by Mass Transit Magazine (2013) and as Woman of the Year by the Women’s Transportation Seminar DC Chapter in 2011.
