Stephen enjoys leveraging user experience design to understand the motivations and incentives that influence behavior in the built environment. By doing so he stays closely connected to the lived experience of the community members he serves and finds creative solutions to traditional barriers.
Stephen Johnson (he/him) is a project manager and senior transportation planner dedicated to forming meaningful places connected by effective multimodal transportation networks. Stephen was working as a software developer when he discovered the life-changing potential of swapping his car for a bicycle and, not long after, enrolled in the urban planning program at the University of Virginia. In his project work, Stephen is passionate about integrating land use and transportation planning to ensure that transportation infrastructure contributes to a strong sense of place and offers diverse modal travel options for people of all ages, incomes, and abilities. Before his work as a consultant, Stephen spent six years planning for demand response, paratransit, and commuter fixed route services at a public transit operator in central Virginia.
