The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) contracted with Agile Mile to develop Try Parking It, a smartphone app designed to incentivize commuters to reduce single-occupancy vehicle (SOV) trips, as part of its goal to cut SOV trips by 20 percent. NCTCOG had no overarching outreach framework to support the app’s growth and needed a transportation demand management (TDM) growth plan and strategy to expand Try Parking It’s reach and engage more commuters.

Foursquare ITP applied its expertise in TDM, community engagement, and GIS to analyze the NCTCOG region and develop a comprehensive strategy for promoting both Try Parking It and TDM programming more broadly. The team also developed marketing materials and a TDM toolkit to support staff in their employer outreach efforts.

The resulting one-year employer outreach plan focuses on major employer engagement and expanding participation in Try Parking It, while a five-year strategic plan guides staff in targeting outreach resources and tracking the program’s success. The NCTCOG team has been trained and has begun migrating employer records into the Try Parking It CRM to build a centralized employer database, the first goal of the one-year plan.
