Mobile Ridecheck

Foursquare ITP’s mobile ridecheck helps agencies conduct ridership counts more efficiently than pen and paper and unlocks new data on transit performance. Using the app, data collectors input boardings and alightings at the stop level, with the mobile device’s GPS location and a timestamp automatically logged. Beyond simply counting passengers, this data also allows agencies to calculate stop-to-stop runtimes and on-time performance without additional ITS equipment. The application supports systems with fixed stop locations through the use of a GTFS feed upload as well as flag stop systems with flexible boarding and alighting locations. Because it is customizable to any system, this app is as flexible as a paper-based ridecheck but provides far richer, more accurate data with no secondary data entry costs.
