Sebastian first became interested in public transit in elementary school, when he began wondering why there wasn’t a subway station near his house. Outside of transportation planning, Sebastian loves learning languages and collecting subway cards from around the world.

Sebastian Sanchez (he/him) is a junior transportation planner with a passion for mapmaking and data analysis. He obtained a BA in Computer Science from Bowdoin College and completed additional coursework in data science and GIS. His skills include survey administration and analysis, technical report writing, and programming in Python. As an undergraduate, Sebastian was a transportation planning intern at Foursquare ITP, where he worked on the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) Route Restoration Plan, Capital District Transportation Authority Transit Development Plan (Albany, New York), and Prince George’s County Fall 2023 Service Change. He has also conducted traffic research at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering and worked as a transportation intern at a nonprofit in Maine, informing regional conversations about rural public transit. Most recently, Sebastian spent one year in Taiwan on a Fulbright scholarship, where he gained an even deeper appreciation for reliable public transit as an integral part of daily life. Through his work at Foursquare ITP, Sebastian aspires to make public transit more effective, equitable, and practical across the United States.
