Avery enjoys exploring a wide range of transportation methods across urban and rural settings. While her ride on the T into work is a beloved part of her daily routine, she also enjoys getting around by cross-country skiing, hiking, sea kayaking, and biking.
Avery is an enthusiastic junior transportation planner with a passion for strengthening equity and vitality across urban systems. As a part of the Foursquare ITP team, she is excited to work alongside municipalities to improve accessible and sustainable transportation systems through creative, thoughtful, and enriching planning. As an undergraduate, Avery curated her coursework to focus on quantitative urban sciences, a process that cumulated in her honors thesis on Boston’s eviction landscape. Outside of this work, Avery has enjoyed analyzing built environments more generally. She has worked on independent contracting projects to model housing unit count trends across the United States as well as conducted undergraduate research to analyze historic public housing projects internationally. As an intern with Foursquare ITP in 2025, Avery worked on projects with the DMVMoves Task Force, WMATA, and other agencies across the US. Avery has experience developing comprehensive regression analyses to improve system norms, strengthening interagency service standards through thoughtful comparative analyses, and optimizing transit systems to better reflect rider needs. She is excited to use quantitative and geospatial analyses to support transportation systems that ultimately enhance cohesive, community-oriented spaces.
