Erin Ghalayini began her journey in the field of transportation at the Florida Department of Transportation in the procurement office. Through this experience, she learned the project life cycle from beginning to end and the factors that create successful projects with strong societal and economic impacts. After graduating from the University of South Florida, she joined the Center for Urban Transportation Research as an outreach coordinator under the Safe Routes to School Initiative. Working in Hillsborough County to encourage behavior change through active transportation, she discovered a love for finding sustainable alternatives. Erin is a detail oriented planner who keeps the big picture in mind while organizing and paying attention to even the most minute details to ensure success. She is an avid Toastmaster who uses public speaking and engaging ideas to capture people’s interest and attention. After a brief sabbatical as a middle school math teacher she is overjoyed to back in the field of transportation. Erin is passionate about helping people and influencing behavior change that makes people’s lives better.
