Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) manages a robust BRT program, with five corridors in active planning or design, including one corridor already in service with plans for an extension and additional dedicated lanes. Foursquare ITP provides strategic communications and outreach support for MCDOT’s Flash BRT program, drawing on our transit planning and public outreach expertise to coordinate messaging and methods across the corridors’ project teams and other County staff.
Semi-embedded Foursquare ITP staff work closely with MCDOT staff to understand the communications needs of the BRT program and lead tasks that address the highest-priority items. Foursquare ITP served as project manager for the Flash BRT Strategic Communications Plan and continues to provide messaging oversight across project teams and review outreach materials for consistency.
Foursquare ITP’s efforts have helped the MCDOT BRT and communications teams approach program and project messaging more effectively and consistently. We developed recommendations to improve the consistency and clarity of the BRT program and project webpages and worked with MCDOT staff to implement them, resulting in updated pages that reflect core BRT program messaging, follow a logical and user-friendly flow, and are fully accessible and visually appealing.
