goDCgo is the District Department of Transportation (DDOT)’s transportation demand management (TDM) program, providing complimentary transit resources and consulting services to employers, multi-family residential properties, K-12 schools, large event organizers, and individual commuters across DC, in support of the District’s goal to increase use of sustainable transportation, reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality, and strengthen quality of life. To grow and evolve these efforts, DDOT needed a team to plan, implement, improve, and expand the program’s offerings, and turned to Foursquare ITP to lead that work.

Foursquare ITP leads the team that plans, operates, improves, and expands goDCgo’s offerings. The team has fostered new relationships with public- and private-sector partners to expand the program’s reach, supported compliance with the DC Commuter Benefits Law and DC Parking Cashout Law, expanded services for large events, incorporated equity into all programs, and hosted a successful bike incentive program. The team also provides marketing and communications support, creating digital content, e-newsletters, and blogs; supporting social media; and leading marketing and outreach campaigns and events that encourage DC residents, employees, and visitors to choose sustainable transportation.

The goDCgo/DDOT team has earned local and national recognition, including the Employer Services Organization Achievement Award for DC Parking Cashout Law efforts (Commuter Connections, October 2024), the Commuting Options Award for the goDCgo Transportation All-Star Program (ACT National, August 2024), and the Best Incentive Program for Behavior Change and Best Community Event awards (ACT Chesapeake Chapter, October 2023). As part of the work to support District residents, the goDCgo team also launched a Travel Training program in 2024 to build mobility confidence and break down barriers to sustainable transportation, and received the Commuter Builder Award (ACT National, August 2025). In collaboration with DDOT, Foursquare ITP has helped more than 37,000 people choose sustainable transportation for their commute, removing the equivalent of more than 41,000 cars from the road daily.
