Foursquare ITP developed a comprehensive overview of existing bus transit services that overlap the proposed streetcar alignment at both the route and corridor level. This includes existing bus transit service in the Union Station to Georgetown Streetcar Transportation Improvement study area as part of the District Department of Transportation’s (DDOT) Environmental Assessment of the Union Station to Georgetown Streetcar alternatives. The proposed streetcar alignment is currently one of the most highly trafficked and productive bus corridors in the city, serving 34 local and commuter buses. These routes service area is diverse and extends in all directions across Washington, DC, Virginia, and Maryland. This report assesses existing bus service along the proposed streetcar alignment and surrounding area to determine the need for improved transit service. The report, based on data gathered in the Fall of 2016, provides a comprehensive overview of existing bus transit services that overlap the proposed streetcar alignment at both the route and corridor level.
