The goal of this project was to provide Howard County with the resources to develop an integrated pedestrian network, including sidewalks with curb ramps; safe design at street crossings; appropriate street or pedestrian signs and furnishings; shared use paths and trails; bus stops; and other features, that will provide safe access to all parts of Howard County’s transportation environment. To support this effort, Foursquare ITP conducted a pedestrian need and demand analysis in order to prioritize data collection on roadways in the county. We generated several pedestrian heat maps in different formats to inform this process. Additionally, we aided in the development of a data collection form for county staff to conduct data collections at bus stops. Foursquare ITP also participated in the public outreach process and supported the development of the final report.
