Foursquare ITP worked with Montgomery County to support a new pedestrian safety outreach program in the County’s high schools. Following the successful implementation of campaigns at Montgomery Blair High School and Seneca Valley High School in 2011 and 2012, the County Council approved $100,000 for the Department of Transportation to develop an outreach campaign to educate high school students on safe pedestrian behavior. The program initiated with the “Walk Your Way” grant program, in which students groups were encouraged to develop campaigns for their schools, and have been awarded $2,000 each for implementing their ideas. Our team developed many of the materials for the program, and was instrumental in getting it off the ground.
