WMATA’s East Falls Church Metrorail Station serves as a transit hub for Metrobus and Arlington Transit (ART) bus routes providing access to the Orange and Silver Metrorail lines. Foursquare ITP led the technical analysis to optimize the operational capacity of the station, project future growth of Metrorail ridership, assess mode share, and evaluate Metrobus and ART bus dwell time. Our team documented existing conditions for buses, bicyclists, and pedestrians and facilitated stakeholder outreach to inform our proposed conceptual design alternatives to improve station access by expanding the bus loop with additional bays and improved pedestrian connections.
