We are based in Rockville, Maryland, right at a Metrorail station in a walkable community and have more than 30 employees. As a result of our hard work, innovation, and straightforward, or “foursquare” manner, we enjoy a strong reputation and get the opportunity to work on a wide variety of high-visibility, high-impact projects. Our firm conducts a broad range of transportation planning, with specific expertise in transit service and operations planning, corridor studies, multimodal coordination, transportation demand management, strategic planning and performance measurement, transportation related public outreach, and bike share planning. We offer competitive salary and benefits packages based on experience and qualifications.

Role
You will work as part of a team and will be responsible for conducting transportation and transit planning work such as data analysis and reporting, strategic planning and performance measurement, use and development of technical tools, innovative research, and meeting participation on a wide variety of transportation projects. You will be responsible for training and mentoring more junior planners.

The types of work that you will be involved in include multimodal corridor studies, alternatives analysis, transportation strategic plans, long range planning, and transit performance monitoring. As a Senior Transportation Planner, you will lead tasks within larger projects and serve as a lead on smaller projects. You will have the opportunity to help teach and mentor more junior transportation planners and develop new specialized skills.

Required Skills and Experience
For this position, extensive, substantive planning experience in the types of projects noted above that involve complex data and analysis and writing is required, including 5-12 years of progressively responsible roles. A Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in transportation planning, urban planning or similar is preferred, though can be substituted with sufficient experience.

In addition to having the appropriate technical skills, you must be a smart, motivated, self-starter who is passionate about transit and transportation planning and has excellent written and oral communication skills. You must also be flexible in meeting client demands and operating within a dynamic workflow.
